The big thing that attracted me to trains were the old steam engines. Thinking about how they created these giant rolling boilers without the aide of CAD or computer simulations to see about the validity of what they were trying to accomplish. All of the tolerances were calculated with a slide rule. If you are anything like me, that power and the brain power that it took to create it is awe inspiring.

Another of my interests is science fiction. I have seen just about every sci-fi movie, good, bad or indifferent. I guess I like to imagine that I am in that world, experiencing what they are experiencing.

Now, what combines science fiction and steam? Steampunk of course! I am truly fascinated by the thought of an alternate timeline that has harnessed steam for other applications. Gizmondo has complied a bunch of really cool steampunk links. Check them out!!
